Distinguished and Famous people from Coolum Beach and Yaroomba
Julian Wilson
Surfer Julian Wilson is closely associated with Coolum Beach, where local appearances have brought an international competitor back into familiar waves. His achievements include winning the 2014 Pipeline Masters and representing Australia at the Tokyo Olympics. He was also involved in the dramatic 2015 Jeffreys Bay final, paddling towards fellow Australian Mick Fanning after a shark interrupted the contest. Born in Nambour, Wilson developed a career that links the Sunshine Coast’s surfing community with the demanding conditions of the world tour.
